Discus Systems’ resident amateur golfer Andy Guy has organized a team for the MacMillan Longest Day Golf Challenge.
Andy and his team will be raising money for the MacMillan Cancer Support charity. Details of the challenge can be found here but to summarize the team will be aiming to complete four rounds of golf in one day, on Friday 21st June 2013, officially the longest day of daylight in the year. They will certainly need all that daylight looking at the numbers below (anybody who would question whether this is really a challenge or just a jolly day on the golf course should take note)…
· A single round of golf takes approximately 4 hours, that’s 16 hours out on the course!
· A golfer walks approximately 5 miles per round, that’s a 20 mile walk (if they are hitting it straight!).
· In 4 rounds of golf each player will be hitting 400-500 shots.
The challenge will be at the beautiful and challenging Stonebridge Golf course and thanks to the amazing generosity of the Course the use of the course will be free for the team, allowing the team to donate the green fees into the fundraising pot.
I’m sure you will all agree that the work MacMillan do is well worth our support. So on behalf of Andy and his team we ask you to visit the team’s JustGiving page and make a donation no matter how small. There is also an option for text donations, the text should use the team’s specific code of FWDS83 followed by your chosen amount, you can donate £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10. So for example to donate £5 you would text "FWDS83 £5" (without quotations) to 70070.
Good Luck to Andy and his team “The Fairway Dodgers”.
