Ferrari Ties Up with Apple to Roll Out Supercar Fitted with iPads
Posted by Srijon Zaman on Mon 25th Mar 2013

Ferrari and Apple are collaborating on the Italian supercar maker’s latest 963-horsepower ‘LaFerrari’ hybrid hypercar that was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show.

Ferrari has announced that its four-seater FF coupe will incorporate a pair of iPad minis into the seats for use by the rear passengers, complete with Siri Voice Integration.

The collaboration is the result of Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president in charge of Internet Software and Services, joining Ferrari’s board of directors late last year.

This new Ferrari hybrid packs a 789 hp V12 with an additional 160 hp of electric power. This 949 hp combination, which takes the supercar to 62mph in less than 3 seconds and makes it the overall fastest Ferrari till date. The hybrid component mostly powers a state-of-the-art KERS system, and with relatively low emissions, it is also eco-friendly.

The Eyes Free functionality, which was introduced at last year’s WWDC, allows drivers to interact with Apple’s iOS voice assistant without having to rely on visual cues or interact with on-screen menus.

The company plans to manufacture only 499 of these beasts, and even with each car costing a whopping $1.3 million, they have already been booked. Gadget integration in cars has infinite possibilities, and who knows what the future has in store.
